Climbing Hold Set
7month old is starting to climb up from his crib - now what?
I have a 7 month old son that uses the bumpers for leverage, then grabs the rails on the crib to look out. He'll even walk along the crib while holding the railing. The mattress is already set at the lowest point (to the best of our knowledge), and he's so strong I'm not sure those mesh tents would help (I haven't seen them in stores though). I don't think a toddler bed is the solution for his age - now what? =b
I doubt if it's a crib it's at the lowest position if your 7 month old is climbing up and grabbing ahold of the rail and walking along side of it.
Reason I said that is my daughter is 7 1/2 months old and is doing the same thing. I removed her bumper today and her crib is still set at the highest position if it were at the lowest she'd only be able to stand up holding onto the bars. BUT no where near the top.
7 months is definitley not a time for a toddler bed, I would double check about the lowest point and if you are unsure check at a store that carries that crib and having one of the people there to show you how to lower it. (providing that it can be lowered).
The tents personally is a waste of money. My aunt's son use to climb out of his crib and plop to the ground and take off crawling. I dont' think the tent is going to help. I'm not buying one for my daughter, but as i said her bed does lower down but i'm hoping to hold off another week until I get moved to my own home. Since Nana hurt her shoulder and can't lift her out fo the bed if it's in the next lower position.

Arborist Climbing
Can someone offer me some career advice with arborism?
I've been strongly considering getting involved in a career field involving conservation, trees, nature. I would love to care for trees. This may sound pretty naive, but I have a major fear of heights. I've done some research and it seems that in order to be an arborist it's very necessary to climb trees. I love studying trees, caring for the environment, and being in nature. Is there a field of tree study that doesn't involve the maintenance of trees and where I can still be in the field? Thank you for any advice.
in Ontario the MNR has tree farms where they study tree growth of saplings and other scientific studies contact your local natural resource ministry or state forestry service if they also have such research farms

Tree Climbing the Arborist way
Certified arborist?
Is there any certified arborists that can give tips on maintaing trees? I'm a big tree lover and love watching tree trimmers trim trees. How do you guys climb big palm trees? Any tips on pruning? I prune my trees; however, would like some additional info.
As Cat said heading to the library is a good option. You can also check out sherrilltree.com, tcia.org, and isa.org for more information. Sherrill's catalog, which you can request for free I believe, has lots of informational illustrations and mini-articles in it that describe various facets of climbing and pruning. You could also check around your area and see if there are any recreational tree climbing groups. I'm sure they'd love to have another member and they'd be able to teach you some things about climbing. It's a great time.
