What is best "plant-like" life can I add to fish-only w/ live rock aquarium for color & texture? Mushrooms?
I have years of experience with freshwater but I am just starting to cycle a fowlr 75 gallon tank with live rock (no fish yet). The live rock is showing great life but I would love to have more color and texture.
I am not ready for a reef tank. I like to take things in baby steps! Lots less stress. Also, the hood/lighting on my tank is the regular one bulb that comes with freshwater tanks and I am thinking about changing the lighting. I would appreciate suggestions and if known the cost expectations...

Oops! I realize that fowlr means "fish-only & live rock". I was not sure if it is a commonly used term - forgive me if I am redundant in my original post...
"Mushrooms" are a coral look-alike (actually called a corallomorphallian) that have photosynthetic algae in their cells. So if you want to keep these, it would be best to change that light over your tank. I've had good success keeping them with double tube high output compact fluorescents and they are easy to keep once you've found the tank level (lights & current) that suits them best. Riccordia are about the same. With better lighting your live rock will develop more color as well - you'll be able to see sponges, macroalgaes, and coralline algae that aren't growing that well now.
You can also add color with other inverts - shrimp for reds, emerald (mithrax) crabs for green or red, hermit crabs (blue-legged and scarlet), and with a 75 gallon, you cold keep a sea star - there are green and yellow serpent stars, blue, orange, and purple linikia stars, red and white tile stars, etc. that won't need better lighting at this point, but will require feeding since you don't have fish yet.
I'd start with a lighting upgrade - it will make what you already have look better without anything upsetting the tank cycling - and it will make what you get in the future look even better! A double tube compact will run $100-$200+ for a 48" model depending on the features you get with it (moonlight LEDs, metal halide combo, etc.). Inverts should start around $7 for some of the crabs up to $80+ for large live rock pieces with mushroom colonies.

Rock 'n Roll is a character from the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero toy line, comic books and cartoon series of the 1980s. He is the G.I. Joe team's original machine gunner and debuted in 1982. His real name is Craig S. McConnel, and his rank is that of sergeant E-5 (later promoted to E-6). A surfer, weight lifter and bass guitar player from Malibu, the noise of machine gun fire is music to his ears.
Rock 'n Roll's primary military specialty is infantry, and his secondary military specialty is PT instructor. He is familiar with all NATO and Warsaw Pact light and heavy machine guns. He graduated from advanced infantry training (top of class), and received specialized education in covert ops school.
Rock 'n Roll is cunning but naive, and forceful but shy. He possesses a strong sense of loyalty to his teammates and is sincerely concerned about their wellbeing. Rock 'n Roll is a man of honor and integrity who can be counted on to hold the line.
In time, Rock 'n Roll moved on from being a machine gunner to a gatling gunner.
Toy history
Rock 'n Roll is part of the first group of characters in the 1982 G.I. Joe relaunch. His character is re-issued with a new action figure design in 1989 with a slight name change to Rock & Roll, however, his file card's content continued to maintain the code name Rock 'n Roll. The name change is temporary as the next few editions of his action figure all used the Rock 'n Roll name. The character also became part of Super Sonic Fighters and Star Brigade sub-lines.

Marvel Comics
In the Marvel comics G.I. Joe series, he first appeared in issue #1, along with the rest of the original team. He participates in the rescue of nuclear physicist and noted peace activist Adele Burkhart from a minor Cobra facility. Adele is rescued safely, only suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm.
Rock 'n Roll is featured in the Joes' second recorded adventure. He, Snake-Eyes, and Scarlett are far behind enemy lines and low on ammunition. Needing to get valuable info back to friendly territory, Scarlett orders both of them, at gunpoint, to run to the rendezvous, leaving her to fight a rearguard action. As they jog through the desert, Rock 'n Roll begs Snake-Eyes to be allowed to go back to help Scarlett, but finds he is talking to empty air as Snake-Eyes already has left.
Rock 'n Roll finishes his mission, then steals a Joe motorcycle. He arrives just in time to kill another wave of enemy soldiers and rescue his friends. Reinforcements endanger all three, until General Hawk, bending orders himself, arrives in the VAMP in time to save them.
A flashback reveals that around this time, Rock 'n Roll is part of the mission where, due to a helicopter crash, Snake-Eyes loses his ability to speak.
The Joe team manages to capture Cobra Commander for a time, and Rock 'n Roll is assigned to be one of his guards; however, the Cobra ninja Storm Shadow rescues the Commander. Some time after, Rock 'n Roll and the other original thirteen Joes save for Snake-Eyes and Hawk, are taken off field duty. While on leave and headed for Malibu, Cobra mercenaries called Dreadnoks run Rock 'n Roll's classic 1956 Bel Air Nomad off the road. He and his two friends, Clutch and Breaker are injured. Spotting the Dreadnoks while in an ambulance, Rock 'n Roll commandeers the vehicle and chases them down, resulting in the capture of the Dreadnok, Buzzer.
He would later be featured in a multiple-issue storyline where he and Clutch find the Cobra-owned town of Broca Beach. Rock 'n Roll realizes the Broca Beach police are Cobra agents by a ring they sport. They are recognized as Joes and captured by the Dreadnoks. They are brainwashed by the Baroness, using an old device left behind by the evil scientist Doctor Mindbender. The two later escape.
They team up with Canadian police officers to destroy a Cobra distribution facility in Canada. Broca Beach is read from documentation, causing odd headaches with the pair.
In a later attack on a Joe facility, the Baroness manages to activate the duo's hypnotic suggestions, which was to kill and destroy. | | The Nylon Curtain $19.98 Billy Joel hit back as hard as he could with Glass Houses, his bid to prove that he could rock as hard as any of those new wave punks. He might not have proven himself a punk -- for all of his claims of being a hard rocker, his work inevitably is pop because of his fondness for melody -- but he proved to himself that he could still rock, even if the critics didn't give him any credit for it. It was now time to mature, to move pop/rock into the middle age and, in the process, earn critical respect. In short, The Nylon Curtain is where Billy Joel went serious, consciously crafting a song cycle about Baby Boomers in the Reagan era. Since this was an album about Baby Boomers, he chose to base his music almost entirely on the Beatles, the pivotal rock band for his generation. Joel is naturally inclined to write big melodies like McCartney, but he idolizes Lennon, which makes The Nylon Curtain a fascinating cross between ear candy and social commentary. His desire to record a grand concept album is admirable, but his ever-present lyrical shortcomings mean that the songs paint a picture without arriving at any insights. Back in the '70s and '80s -- when there was still a Soviet Union and the communist governments of Eastern Europe were referred to as "behind the Iron Curtain" -- folks in Los Angeles County jokingly referred to Orange County (their neighbor to the south) as "the Orange Curtain." The Bulletboys lineup heard on this 55-minute CD is not the old Torien/Mick Sweda/Lonnie Vencent/Jimmy D'Anda lineup; Torien, the only remaining original member, is joined by guitarist Tommy Pittman, bassist Jimmy Nelson, and drummer Pete Newman. But a lot of old favorites are performed, including "Hang on St. Christopher," "Hard as a Rock," "Shoot the Preacher Down," and the O'Jays' "For the Love of Money" -- and Torien fares well by letting his bluesy, R&B-ish instincts prevail. Occasionally, Behind the Orange Curtain ventures into alternative rock/post-grunge territory ("Walls" and "Toy," for example), but much of the time, this album is a tribute to the Bulletboys' late-'80s/early-'90s heyday (before alterna-rock became an influence for the band).
