Rock Climbing Workout

After a hard workout my bones hurt anyone know why?
I do intense calisthenics, rock climbing, and kettle bell training.
i have just come back into working out from a series of injuries.
the injuries weren't related to training. the first was when i fell while bouldering at a rock gym and landed on solid concrete. the other time i got hit by a car while on my bike.
If you haven't been in a fitness program for very long your bones will have to catch up with your muscles and connective tissue. Increase your activity level gradually over at least 6 months or you might have problems. If you still get unusual pain it's a good idea to consult a sports physician for technique advice.

Should you work out your arm muscles if they hurt from the previous days workout?
can i do pushups even though my arm muscles hurt from rock climbing
Yes, you can. If you are just sore from regular exercise (as opposed to being sore to the touch, which is a sign of muscle injury) you can exercise- although I would not "overdo it."

Indoor Rock Climbing

Does indoor rock climbing require any special skills?
I need to do a report for school, and I need to know this, it is NOT a test question, just info I need to write a report. Please help.
It is kind of like outdoor climbing in that it depends on the particular route/level that you are climbing at as to what the special skills are that it requires. It can run the spectrum from very easy to very technical.

He established, developed, and directed the Indoor Climbing School of Earth Treks Climbing Center in Maryland, the largest climbing gym on the east coast. Now he presents the same techniques and training exercises honed by coaching hundreds of climbers.Burbach covers all aspects of indoor rock climbing in detail, including what to look for in a gym, analysis of equipment and how it works, proper top-rope systems management, and movement technique. More advanced indoor climbers will appreciate chapters on topics such as indoor leading, performance, competition climbing, and bouldering. For outdoor rock climbers now training in gyms, this guide aids the "reverse" transition from climbing on real rock to pulling on plastic. Throughout, Burbach not only demonstrates the proper techniques and skills, but goes one step further to explain why those practices are better.Matt Burbach is the editor of Urban Climber magazine, which is devoted to the information, community, and entertainment needs of climbers who climb where they live, the city. What sort of physical preparation for a 2-week long hiking trip should I do?
Hey, I'm going on a two-week hiking trip in a few months in the hills of Yosemite. What sort of physical preparation should I do to get myself fit for this--I know of course that if I can do some day hikes or whatnot, that'll be good, but can anyone offer advice on perhaps exercises I should do in the gym or other forms of preparation? We'll also be doing a bit of rock climbing, too. Thanks ![]()
I've done a few of these long trips, and the best thing I've found to prepare is to jog. Try to do a 5 km jog 3-6 times a week until your trip. You could try taking a pack with you, too. Push ups are also a great way to strengthen your upper body. In my opinion, going to the gym is not the place to prepare for an outdoor trip. No sense wasting time and money at the gym, when the best treadmill is outside your front door, and the best upper body workout is push-ups. If you do go for day hikes as preparation for your trip, put in a good 6 hour hike, carry at least 40 lbs, and push yourself. Wear the same footwear you plan on taking on your trip, so you can test them out. It's very important to have good quality socks and footwear for long trips such as this. I suggest Merino Wool WigWam Socks, as they wick woisture away from the foot, and are especially designed for hiking. I'm not sure if they have their own website, but you can find them at Mountain Equipment Co-op (www.mec.com), along with everything else you could possibly need for this trip. I highly recommend a browse and a few purchases from this store before your trip.
Happy Trails!

Rock Climbing: The Straight-Arm Climb
about rock climbing.... strength?
what are good exercises to do to improve your strength for rockclimbing?
thank you so much guys!
i REALLY appreciate it... ![]()
Chin ups, dumbbell press, various types of push ups, crunches, and leg press.
A training plan alternating between certain areas will maximize the efficiency of your workout time.
eg.
Monday: Biceps/Triceps
Tuesday: Break
Wednesday: Thighs/calf muscles
Thursday: Break
Friday: Shoulders/Pectorals/Abdominal area.
Proper diet and lots of protein will help you gain muscle mass needed for rock climbing.
After the initial exercise program starts working, I would recommend start training your flexibility through various types of stretches and aerobics courses even.
You can modify your workout routine and exercises throughout the week to ensure that your body does not become accustomed to the routine. This will ensure that you get the most out of your workout schedule.
Aerobic exercise such as regular jogging exercises can greatly increase your stamina and ultimately aid you in climbing a mountain. again having that basic level of fitness to actually haul your body weight up a cliff face is necessary for those more complicated climbs.
But all in all, nothing really prepares you than regularly climbing such as indoor places to make sure you are training the right areas. Start easy and move onto the harder climbs.
Good luck.
