Galway Spirit flutes?
I've been playing flute for close to seven years now and I've been using the same flute the entire time. I was thinking of upgrading FINALLY, but I was kind of afraid to before because I was afraid I'd suddenly give it up. I don't think thats a worry now so I figure I should get something better than my crusty old Buffet-Crampon (xD) and I came across a flute that I was a bit timid about before, the Galway Spirit flutes, because of how much time was spent going into their looks (the designs+the zirc. in it) but after reading up on it, it seems to have excellent reviews, and after listening to them they sound really gorgeous. The low notes melt my heart.
I was wondering if anyone has had any real experience with them. Like good or bad. Also does anyone know of the price range (preferably of the JG2 or 3) because I can't find even an estimation ANYWHERE.
At www.fluteworld.com, these are $1,149.00. Frankly - you need to look at some others, too. Just about anything after your old Buffet is going to *melt your heart*. There are Jupiters, DiZhao flutes, and several others. See what a few more dollars will bring you - like an all-silver BODY as well as head. Plated keys - no problem. Decide if you need a split E or donut, B foot, offset G, a C# trill key - you probably do not need a D# roller. Look at a Jupiter 711 if you can a few bucks higher - and a 611 if you need to go lower (same specs as the Galway). Same kind of small dollar spread in the DiZHao 500 and 600.
Do you homework before you fall in love with a flute that has a fake stone at the end, and some guys signature engraved on it - who cares? It is STILL a Con-Selmer flute - hardly a n big name among us professional flutists/teachers.

How long should a clarinet last?
I have had my clarinet for 4 years now,and it doesn't seem to play so well,or well I haven't been playing aswell as I can.
My clarinet brand is buffett crampon,the german one,it is a very good clarinet and is made of wood not plastic.I've played it well until this year,my fourth year.
About how long should a clarinet last?
Could it be possible that there is something wrong with my clarinet?
A clarinet will last as long as you let it. Just take good care of it and it should last for a long time. Wood clarinets last longer if you only play them indoors. Taking it outside might dry it out and make it crack.
Something you might try is taking it to a professional clarinet repairman and have the person soak the clarinet bore oil.
If you have a private teacher ask them what they think you should do.
