Question on restraint systems and safety harnesses for tree stands?
Last year I fell out of my tree while I was climbing down and got hurt pretty bad. I have been using a harness and the "fall guy" restraint system ever since. But my problem is that i have more than 1 stand and those Fall Guy straps are $70 a pop. Anyone have a cheaper alternative so I am safe climbing in and out of the stand?
Use a lineman's style belt for climbing up and down from your tree stand. It has a rope that goes around the tree and hooks to the belt. They are adjustable to fit any size tree. Linemen trust their lives to them every day going up and down utility poles.

Whats the best climbing harness to get?
Am only a beginner in terms of climbing and so far have only climbed indoors. I can't wait to go climbing outdoors but want to know if there is a suitable harness for both venues? If there is a suitable match does any one know where to buy one without it costing the earth?

I am trying to get pattern ideas for making a sex swing. does anybody have suggestions or places i could look?
I have plenty of experiece with sewing weight sensitive things such as backpacks and climbing harnesses but this is knew to me. i have all the supplies i could want. just need some ideas and places to get ideas. i cant seem to find any site that has patterns. all i find is sextoy shops and thats not what i want. any help?
Take a look at all of the various designs available. Some of them are silly. Some actually have the ability to function. If you can't decide what features are actually useful, you may want to start looking for product reviews. I would assume that bdsm forums and other places would have reviews from knowledgable people who actually use swings and know what makes one work well.
Since you have experience with climbing harnesses, you should be able to sort out what is bearing the person's weight in photos and what is performing some other function like stabilization.
I doubt that you're going to find patterns, but again you can check out adult oriented communities for any how to's that might be floating around. Sometimes people get truly excited about the gear they build for themselves and are willing to share advice and information.
But honestly I think with your experience, you could sort out how to make a swing from looking at enough pictures. A harness is a harness after all. You just have to move the straps around to support the function.

What is the most unusual thing you have made in the name of art?
Either as an artist or as a model.
I once had to dress as a faerie and hang around in a climbing harness from a ceiling for half an hour while I had pics taken.
And what would you do for arts sake?
Well, I (male) once modelled for an art student (female) making a video piece, in which I was required to be filmed in some woods, stripping slowly naked and then masturbating while the filmmaker watched (in camera shot)!
I gather that the piece was considered very thought provoking (issues of power and control, was she making him do it or was he forcing her to watch etc.) and was well received within the department. It also appeared in an exhibition of the students' work

Outdoor Rock Climbing : Pick the Right Rock Climbing Harnesses
Why don't crab fishers wear a safety harness when climbing the pots?
Most actually do have themselves tied off to the stack, there just not the average climbing harness that you may be used to seeing, and more likely to be just a rope tied around your waist or leg or something like that. Every man that is involved in chaining up the stack is tied off, unless he just chooses to ignore the importance of his own safety, and thankfully, on a fishing boat, every man working on that boat is well aware of the dangers and after your greenhorn period, it is basically left up to you how you choose to do your job. I've worked with guys who absolutely refuse to wear a line, purely out of stupidity in my opinion, and you know who you are, Tony, while at the same time, after well over 10 years of working offshore, I would never climb any stack without one, so it's really to each his own.

know of a rock climbing harness for a heavier person?
My husband loves to rock clmib but has put on some extra weight over the last couple years. He is actually quite muscular but has put on some fat over it! Anyway, he would really love to start rock climbing again but we cannot find a harness that will fit him. Do you know of any larger harness that would fit a person with 33 in legs and a 40 in. waist? Thanks.
I was wrong on the waist size. He has a 42 in waist, not a 40.
The Black Diamond product sheet shows that(http://www.bdel.com/pdf/s07_rock_export.pdf) the "speed" versions of their harnesses (Momentum, Focus, etc) size L - XXL fits 30-42” (76-107 cm) waist and 21-27” (53-69 cm) legs - that may fit.

I have a Focus Speed and it has a huge range of adjustment and is much more comfortable than a wrap / diaper style harness because it has seperate leg loops and won''t squeeze you when you hang in it. This is the best kind of harness for gym or sport climbing.

2. Harness
The harness is what you wear to keep you tied to the rope. This is the ones that you wear around your body and is attached to rhe rope and it will keep you from falling when you climb on the rocks.
Make sure that your harness fits your body properly. It must be comfortable enough in your waist and thigh areas.
3. Chalk and Chalk Bag
The chalk is what you use to keep your hands capable of gripping firmly on the rocks or rope. This is rubbed on the hands to minimize the damp. It comes in ball form or powdered type.
The chalk bag must be attached to your harness so that you can easily access it when the need arises. These two items can be easily bought at any sports shop or specialty store.
4. Climbing Shoes
