What is this climbing equipment called?
Okay. So I read the book raptor a few years ago. I recently was asked a question about a type of equipment used in climbing. So I was trying to find out what that's called. It might start with a c or a k. That's what's coming to mind at least. I also remember the name sounded kind of weird too if that's helps. But please answer!
Carabiner? - metal links used to attach gear to ropes, slings, etc.
Crampons? - metal footwear with spikes used for snow/ice climbing
Cam? - spring loaded camming device used as rock protection
Cordelette? - nylon cord used for connecting gear and rope systems
Copperhead? - soft metal pound-in protection for aid climbing

What is the correct term for a crag that has already been set up for climbing?
What is the correct term for a crag that has already been set up for climbing i.e. routes have been bolted to make leading easier (and cheaper as less equipment is needed).
Are there any of these crags in Gloucestershire?
These are usually referred to "bolted" routes or "sport" routes. Sport climbing is either top rope or lead where there are bolted anchors (and sometimes bolts for lead protection) in contrast to Trad routes which have no bolted ancors or no bolted protection.
As for knowing whether any of your local routes are set up as sport routes, get a guide book - it will show each bolt (usually as an "x" on the route diagram) and will indicate what gear is needed.

I am just starting out in rock climbing and I am looking to buy my own equipment. Is it okay to buy used equipment? And what are some good brands?
