The fabled snows of Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro may not succumb to global climate change as quickly as scientists had feared. A joint Austrian-U.S. research team that took seven years of measurements from weather stations atop Africa's tallest mountain says that its ice fields will be around for another 30 to 40 years /snip/ The research team found new evidence showing that lower precipitation—and not rising temperatures on the summit—is the main cause for the Kilimanjaro glaciers' retreat.

Snow Golf Introduction
Snow golf is a sport based on golf but played over snow (or ice) instead of grass. The "greens" are called "whites" and have an ice surface.
As for classic golf the origin of snow golf is thought to be the Dutch game of "Kolf" that was played since the middle ages. Evidence for Kolf as a popular winter pastime comes from numerous 17th century paintings by renowned artist such as Aert van der Neer or Hendrick Avercamp.
The discovery of modern snow golf is credited to Rudyard Kipling, living in Vermont in the 1890's who was an avid golfer. While writing his famous book The Jungle Book, Kipling relaxed by playing snow golf during winter.
The annual World Ice Golf Championship has been held on the world's nothernmost gilf course on the shelf ice near Uummannaq, Greenland since 1997. The course is shaped new by the moving ice every year and play is highly dependent on weather conditions. Competitors are allowed at handicap 36 or below. Because of the extreme temperature clubs with graphite shafts are not recommended.
The First SnowGolf Championship in Argentina has been held in Cerro Castor, Ushuaia since 2007, by José García Daroca.
The first ever Snowgolf World Championship for amateurs was carried out in January 2007 in Abtenau, Austria. With Adi Hengstberger from Germany, the first Snowgolf World Champion was founded. The event is hosted as a major Austrian celebrity event and sponsored by the state of Salzburg as part of the touristic scheme. The second Snowgolf World Championship took place in Obertauern, Austria. Thanks to the “Million Dollar Putt” contest, the official Championship on playing golf on snow title was the biggest prize for an amateur golf event in the world up to now. Alongside amateur competitors, many big names from sport and showbiz were trying to sink their “Million Dollar Putt” for important causes - “Wings for Life“ (Spinal Cord Research Foundation) and “Eagles Charity Golf Club“. In the end nobody could pull off the big putt, and the prize remains unclaimed until the next championship. Adi Hengstberger (D) retained his 2007 title. The runners-up were Tristan David (Philippines) and Peter Dobrowolsky (Austria). The new women’s World Champion was Sarah Hölzl (Austria).

Bolt On Climbing Holds
Is it really possible to do this?
In the movie The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Dastan is climbing up the wall of Alamut with the help of his soldiers shooting crossbow bolts for him to hold on to. Is it really possible to climb a wall this way, or would you just end up getting shot in the hand?
Yes it could be done but would be very dangerous and the arrows would have
to be made of metal to hold his weight.
You would have to be an expert with your crossbow so don't go trying it
leave that stuff for the films.

Information About Expansion Bolts
The very first question which one thinks of when someone mentions expansion bolts is "What is an expansion bolt? ". The next one is along the lines of "What is an expansion bolt for and just how does it work? ". This short article should answer some of these questions for you.
An expansion bolt consists of a bolt, nut and a sleeve. Your sleeve expands as soon as the bolt is tightened. They're much like nail-in anchors but are able to handle much more heavy duty usage like podiums and stadium seating. There are a few different types of expansion bolts available. A definition from a mechanical engineering perspective will be as follows: an expansion bolt is a bolt and nut configuration that expands when tightened into a hole.
The first is the bolt, lead sleeve and tapered nut combination. The nut is inside a lead sleeve and then the entire thing is put into a hole already drilled in the material that needs to be fastened. The bolt will then be fastened and the nut is drawn up towards the bolt head and this makes the lead sleeve broaden and tighten in the hole.
Then you have the bolt, lead sleeve, metal cone and nut collaboration. The cone and sleeve sit on the bolt assembly. When the bolt is tightened, it pushes the metal cone into your sleeve which again causes the sleeve to expand and hold the equipment in position.
The common element is the lead sleeve. It will be this that basically facilitates the expansion and allows the bolt to remain in position. The sleeve also protects the bolts and the material from breaking from too much pressure. Additionally , it decreases the likelihood of the bolt getting pulled out or even stripped.
Expansion bolts are rated on the tonnage they can handle. They must be chosen according to what use they'll be put to and what type of stress they will be under in addition to what kind of corrosion should be expected.
One of the more common uses that can be seen and comprehended by just about any one, is in the protection on climbing routes on cliffs and mountains. The expansion bolts are put in places that will probably have accidents occur to provide anchors for the climbers to connect to.
So, expansion bolts are not that complex. They basically consist of a bolt in a sleeve that swells when the bolt is tightened. The expansion makes the bolt stay more securely within the hole. The sleeve protects the bolt as well as the material it's being inserted into. Expansion bolts can be used in the construction of podiums, permanent scaffolding, seating in stadiums and also security on mountaineering routes.
They are simple enough to use, you just need the proper drill bit, at most only a little larger than the bolt head itself and the bolt. Drill a hole in the material, put in the bolt and fasten it. Take care not to over tighten it as that may cause the head of the bolt to get stripped rendering the bolt extremely tough to remove, if not impossible.

Trying to make a custom decal.?
I am a semi-pro cyclist and am building a custom bike just for commuting. I am designing it after the riddler from batman. It will be bright green with question marks all over it. I need to know where I can buy lots of small (1"x1") question mark stickers or decals with a clear background.

How to Apply a Small Car Sticker
If you're like many do-it-yourselfers, you enjoy taking care of things yourself instead of having it done for you by a professional. Customizing the exterior of your vehicle and enhancing the paint job used to be something that only professionals could do accurately. However, technology has made it possible for you to customize your own vehicle with the invention of car stickers.
All you need to do is choose the stickers that you want to used form the many options available and with the help of the instructions below, you can put your own car stickers on your vehicle with precision.
How to apply small car stickers to your vehicle:
- Gather together all of the tools needed to do the installation. The recommended tools are cleaners, paper towels, squeegee, masking tape and a measuring tape.
- Decide where you want to put the car sticker and use the measuring tape to center it correctly. Clean this area well making sure there is no dust, grim or wax on the area and that it's completely dry before moving to the next step.
- Place the car sticker on the desired location and use the masking tape to hold in place. Tear off two strips of the tape and place one on each side of the sticker taping it to the vehicle creating a hinge with the tape.
- Now, lift the bottom of the sticker upward until you can peel the backing off of it leaving the adhesive exposed.
- Gently lower the sticker back down to the vehicle with the adhesive touching the area but don't press at this time.
- Use a squeegee, driver's license or credit card to smooth out the sticker. Start pressing in the center of the car sticker and work outward smoothing out all the air bubbles as you go.
- The last step is to remove the clear transfer tape by gently pulling it off at an angle leaving the car sticker in place. The masking tape can be moved at this time as well.
- It's recommended that you install the stickers when the temperature is between fifty and ninety degrees. Extreme heat or cold can make installation more difficult.
The instructions for applying car stickers, decals and window stickers are basically the same. However, when applying larger stickers, you'll need to tape it in place and then cut it into sections in order to make it easier to apply. Be careful not to cut into the design.
If you're interested in car warps or very large designs, you may want to consider using a professional. A big job such as these will be very time consuming and a lot more difficult to get that professional look.
