i have some rocks that got rust on them is there anything i can use to clean them?
i want to be able to put them in my saltwater tank
rocks shouldnt have rust on them, rust is someithing that is on metals. i dont think that would be safe for your tank

got rocks
Got a new gas grill. Can I toss in a few charcoal briquettes on top of the lava rocks for flavor?
Will it damage my grill or clog the gas jets? I've also thought about putting the charcoal in a metal pie plate and then placing it on the lava rocks. Please answer as I am having a cook-out this week-end.
I would recommend a smoke box, they are available at hardware stores and places like Lowe's and Home Depot, you can add wood chips or dust for a smoky flavour, we use to use aluminium foil pouches, and woods like hickory, cherry, I am former chef (20+ years) from Canada and hot smoked my salmons with alder wood, the charcoal on the lava rock can cause a fire, plus the soot can clog you burners. I have used gas, propan,e live charcoal and full wood burning BBQ, and a couple of smoking competition units.
The "box" is about 8 X12" long and the top slides off/on, you dampen the wood chips, set it on the back of the lava rocks so when you close the top the smoke permeates the food, you can do direct or indirect cooking like for ribs and other long cooking meats like beef ribs or brisket.
