How can I get started with Rock Climbing?
I already go to a Bouldering gym often but I would like to try the roped higher version of the sport.

Well, I can think of a few new items you'll need:
1) A climbing partner 
2) A harness, carabiner, and ATC
3) A couple of routes to climb
4) Belay skills. And for anything other than top-rope, include lead climbing skills.
If your bouldering gym also has routes, you're already set. Just rent the extra gear, take their 20 minute safety instruction class and off you go. Even if they don't have routes, I'm sure some of the regulars climb routes elsewhere - about 70% of the boulderers I know also climb routes, if only to build endurance. So just ask around and tag long for a day.
If all else fails, visit a new gym to get started. Bring your own climbing partner.

Where are some good outdoor rock climbing locations in DC?
Is there anywhere beside Rock Creek Park to rock climb for both a novice and an experienced climber? Both top roping and bouldering would be awesome!
Both Great Falls National Park and Carderock are within 30 minutes of the DC Area - I've made it to Great Falls from Reagan in under 20 minutes. Both are very well developed areas with hundreds of climbs from 5.0 to 5.13, 30-60ft (9-18m) high, virtually all of which can be top-roped. There are no bolts, anchors are set by running long slings around the trees at the top of the cliffs. Many routes are in listed the Rock Climbing Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland guide book, but your best bet is to pick up one of the local guides at the park or a local gear shop (links below). These areas have some bouldering as well.

My friends and I always use rock climbing rope to mark our friendships and the significant moments in them. We pick a color for that moment and melt the ends together either around our wrists or ankles so we have matching rope bracelets. At one time you can have many on since they last so long, your arms and legs can be a rainbow. After I pull mine off I like to twist them together to make a keychain or something.
