Ludovico Einaudi studied piano & composition at the Conservatory in Milan & also with composer Luciano Berio. His early career produced several chamber & orchestral compositions, but he expanded his works in the mid-1980s by creating a series of successful dance & multimedia works. His move to film music in the mid-1990's seemed a logical progression where his innovative & imaginative composing style has had significant impact on his peers, who have bestowed him with 4 major international awards as of this writing. His 21st Century pieces fuse a myriad of styles, including ambient, minimalist and avant-garde, drawn from his admiration of rock groups like Radiohead and Red Hot Chili Peppers, attracting fans from across the popular musical spectrum. Einaudi performed this rich, melodic set of chamber pieces himself, accompanied by Djivan Gasparian and Quartetto David. Performers: Djivan Gasparian - Duduk; Alessandro Radici - Electronics; Antonio Leofreddi - Viola; Franco Feruglio - Double Bass; Marco Decimo - Cello; Stefano dall'Ora - Double Bass; Ludovico Einaudi - Piano; Ricky Maja - Guitar

No one knows just what would happen if Scott McCaughey happened to have a few weeks to himself with nothing to do musically, largely because he seems determined to prevent that from ever happening. An example: in January 2000, while McCaughey was waiting out the delays that postponed the release of the Minus 5/Young Fresh Fellows split album Let the War Against Music Begin, he got word that the much-loved Chicago venue Lounge Ax was going to close, and he joined the parade of artists who took to their stage during the club's final weeks. Since the "real" Minus 5 lineup couldn't make the trip, McCaughey persuaded his pals in Wilco to back him up, and on-stage they plowed through a set of new songs he wrote for the occasion without a single rehearsal. Following this baptism of fire, McCaughey decided the tunes merited another chance with the more traditional Minus 5 lineup, and so on March 13, 2000, he rolled into a recording studio with Peter Buck, John Ramberg, and Bill Rieflin, and bashed ten of his Lounge Ax tunes onto tape. McCaughey called the results In Rock, and a limited edition of 1,000 copies were sold at Minus 5 gigs over the next few months. Fast-forward to the fall of 2003: in yet another moment that demanded to be filled, McCaughey decided the album deserved a broader audience than record collector geeks who were scrambling for the now-rare disc, and after clipping off two tunes he added four more (recorded with the help of his longtime collaborator Kurt Bloch) and handed the new and improved version of In Rock to the good people at Yep Roc for widespread dissemination. And for a project put together in the amount of time a negligent freshman puts into a term paper, In Rock sounds pretty darned satisfying; McCaughey has been writing smart, funny, and full-bodied pop/rock tunes since 1984, and In Rock makes it clear he's only gotten better at it with the passage of time, and the various assemblages of friends and acquaintances who help make 'em fly on this album take his life's mission as gloriously unseriously as he does. If not quite a single-day masterpiece in the manner of White Light/White Heat or Please Please Me, the Minus 5's In Rock makes a real virtue of its casual incubation period, and manages to be both tight and loose just when it needs to be. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Natural Looking Landscaping Rocks

You can use landscaping rock to add some depth and texture to your landscaping design. This landscaping rock can come in a couple of different forms, actually there are quite a few. Not only is there a find collection of colors of landscaping rock there is also several different kinds of stone to choose from. Different landscaping designs will require different landscaping rock. You can get small landscaping rock or larger landscaping rock.

The trick to using landscaping rock successfully is to fully integrate them into your yard and the design. You need to place them in places that will add to the yard, not in places that will make it look like you are trying to cover something up or take attention away from another part of the yard. If you were to just put your landscaping rock here and there you will be doing nothing for the yard and your yard will end up looking strange and unbalanced. You should plan exactly where each landscaping rock should be placed for the ultimate good effect.

If you take the time to bury your rock it will look much better. This will make them look planted and they will blend in and look as if this is where they really should be, not just where they got clunked down.

How far should you bury your roc in the ground? The depth will all depend upon the landscaping rock that you finally choose fro your yard. If you choose a very large landscaping rock then it should be deeper than a smaller landscaping rock. Four to six inches is a good depth for your landscaping rock to be buried.

It is easy to build a landscaping rock. All you need to do is dig a spot about the size of your landscaping rock and them place the rock into it. You can then just tuck some dirt into the spot around the rock and then you are done. Voila!

Think about it, this is what rocks and boulders look like when you see them out in nature. The next time that you are out taking a walk or you are hiking keep an eye out for any large rocks, look at how they sit in the dirt and then try to get the landscaping rock in your yard to look just as natural.
