Kids friendly tree?
My husband and I just found out we are expecting a baby and we would love to plant a tree in January when the baby is born. We live in Durban South Africa, hot and rainy summers, and great winter (not too cold). What tree should we plant that lives long, is a strong tree that the kids will love climbing in? My parents-in-law live on a farm so space is not a problem...
We don't get it hot and rainy in new zealand. But a tree that seems to suit most climates are nut trees. The Macadamia Nut. Grows very big,is an evergreen, and has wonderful nuts. Also Walnut. Deciduous tree. Grows very big. Again nice nuts. Another good climbing tree would be the Oak.What I would do is check either on a garden centre website,or at a garden centre in Durban. By the way all these trees will outlast yours and your children. Good Luck!
