Aluminum Straight
if you are given 5 pieces of pure aluminum, all of different sizes?
we measure both volume and mass for each piece, and plot mass vs. volume on a graph. assuming your results are accurate, the plot on your graph is ????
the correct answer is straight line
my question is how do you know that the plot on the graph is straight line? Please i need someone to explain the answer with details and any help is appreciated
density = mass / volume right?
and density = constant for a pure compound? regardless of shape or amount...so let's let density =.. oh... k... the typical letter for a constant...
k = mass / V
mass = kV... right?
mass = kV + 0
that looks pretty similar to...
y = mx + b.. right?... a line...

we could rewrite that as..
V = k m²... a parabola
if say density = m³ / V
we could rewrite that as..
V = k m³... a cubic equation...
see how that works?

btw... looking at relationships like this and deciding if it's linear, quadratic, cubic, etc is a little abstract and it takes some getting used to and a lot of practice. Everyone goes through a period of "i don't understand" and eventually, it becomes clear.

Is there a recycling pick up for businesses in Norman, OK?
I work at a place that throws away glass bottles, cardboard boxes and aluminum cans and bottles. I asked my boss why she doesn't recycle and never got a straight answer. She later asked me to gather some information about recycling for the business. Can anyone tell me where I can go for info relating to that? I would really like them to start.
My pen-pal lives there and he said where his dad's business that there IS but, his friends don't.
They have to fill a landfill.
Well, start by getting a loyal group of friends to help.
